Gender and Race Disparities in Teaching Evaluations

Longstanding research makes evident that gender and racial disparities can exist in teaching evaluations. Given that standardized student course evaluations play an important role in the review of faculty for merit raises, reappointment, tenure, and promotion, understanding this research is imperative for faculty who make decisions about colleagues' tenure and promotion, for administration, and for faculty impacted by these potential biases in course evaluations.
