Quality Matters - Course Development program

quality mattersDesigned for the faculty member who has been teaching online for several years, and are ready to take their courses to the next step. The Center for Academic Excellence will choose up to six faculty members to participate in the Quality Matters (QM) Course Development program.

Faculty will work in a cohort to encourage progression and collaboration. Throughout the process faculty learn about online pedagogy, QM standards, and learning technologies. Faculty will have one-on-one consultations with a dedicated instructional technologist who will help the faculty member rethink, redesign, and apply online pedagogy in the design and development of a high-quality online course.

The focus of this work will be on:

  • Learning Goals and Objectives
  • Curriculum Mapping
  • Active Learning Strategies
  • Student Engagement
  • Assessment, Quizzing and Exams
  • Accessibility

Faculty are equipped and empowered to develop a high-quality online course in 12 weeks. By November 2019, the course should be ready for an external QM review, which the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) will pay for ($1,000). Additionally, the CAE will offer a stipend of $1,500 to the faculty member upon the successful completion of a formal QM review.

To apply for consideration, please complete the application by September 12, 2019. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by September 19, 2019.
