Fred Woolard is the lead systems and software developer in the Center for Academic Excellence. His primary responsibility is to manage, plan, design, and implement our enterprise learning management system, AsULearn (Moodle), and its related components. This includes software to customize the LMS and integrate it with other campus information systems. Fred's additional responsibilities include analysis, design, development, and maintenance of other systems and applications that support CAE's mission at Appalachian State University.
In 2007 Fred joined the group, coming from the campus's ITS department where his focus was database and application development. Before coming to Appalachian State University, Fred worked as a sysadmin, development database administrator, and software developer in a variety of sectors including health care, human resource management, and state government public administration.
Fred earned his Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, with a concentration in Speech/Communications. His reading interests include non-fiction, biographies, and history.
