Inclusion Infusion Summer Diversity Institute

In the Summer of 2017, Appalachian State University hosted the three-day Inclusion Infusion Summer Diversity Institute for faculty, staff, and administrators to encourage inclusionary practices and relationships that support a state of being valued, respected, and supported.

Primary Goals and Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize and become aware of the need for infusion in higher education
  • Expose attendees to various infusion related activities
  • Recognize that infusion permeates all academic subjects at some level
  • Develop an individual working definition for infusion
  • Learn strategies to aid students in infusion
  • Learn methods to address Macro and Micro Aggression
  • Learn about Social Justice

Application Process

To participate in the Inclusion Infusion Summer Diversity Institute, faculty, staff, and administrators were asked to submit the following application information:

  • Staff and Administrator Applicants: Information on their experiences with diversity and inclusionary challenges in the workplace
  • Faculty Applicants: Information on experiences with diversity challenges in their classroom and how they hope to redesign their course as a result of participating in the Institute
