To be successful in a course, students need to be able to persist throughout an entire semester. Although it's tempting to think of persistence and resilience as student characteristics, the reality is that instructor choices play a huge role in whether students will be able to sustain their engagement for long periods of time. In this workshop, we'll discuss how we can design our courses in ways that prompt and support sustained student engagement.
