Teaching Quality Framework Grants 

2023/2024 Cohort 1 applications are now closed; Cohort 2 applications due by December 15th  for full consideration

CETLSS is interested in funding projects that focus on enhancing the practice, assessment, and/or support of high-quality teaching at Appalachian State, as aligned to App State's Teaching Quality Framework.  Because these grants are aimed at enhancing the teaching culture at App State, we are interested in supporting groups of individuals engaging in this work, such as departments, programs, committees, or interdisciplinary collaboratives.  This grant is perfect for projects like a redesigned peer review of teaching process, new foundational documents for teaching, teaching tools for use in annual reviews, or departmental professional development in teaching. Increasing Student Success in Gateway Courses Innovation Grant

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Student Success (CETLSS) is now seeking applications for the Increasing Student Success in Gateway Courses Innovation Grant.The purpose of this innovation grant is to incentivize and implement innovative approaches to increasing the academic outcomes of students in challenging gateway courses critical to degree attainment. 

CETLSS Online: "Our Online" Grants 

Application Submissions for fall are closed, submissions will reopen in the spring

CETLSS Online offers services not just at the individual instructor level but also for your program or department as you craft your online presence. Apply for the "Our Online" Grant of up to $3,000 for a semester to work with CETLSS as a group to develop an aspect of your program's online identity. What does your group need to invent or refine for your online identity? Maybe you'd like to develop a philosophy statement about your online courses to support your website advertising. Or, you could create a set of teaching guidelines to ease the work of new faculty teaching online, for consistency.  This grant lets your choose and design a deliverable together. We provide the structure and guidance, while you tailor to your home culture for the buy-in you need to move confidently forward.

Mountaineer Mentoring Grants

Applications submissions for 2023-2024 are now closed. Please check back after the Spring Semester for 2024-2025 submissions! 

The purpose of the Mountaineer Mentoring Innovation Grants is to incentivize and recognize innovative approaches to faculty career support and mentorship at Appalachian State University. Funds will be granted to faculty groups and/or units for developing programs that support faculty across the career lifeline, particularly pre-tenure faculty. Up to $3000 per project is available.

Civic Engagement Grants

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Student Success (CETLSS) is now seeking applications for the Civic Engagement Innovation Grant. The purpose of this innovation grant is to incentivize campus-community partnerships and the implementation of curricular service-learning. Funds will be granted to faculty groups, programs and/or departments (approximately 3-6 faculty participants) to develop community-based curricular activities.
